Books:
Andronik, Catherine M. Wildly romantic : the English Romantic poets--the mad, the bad, and the dangerous. New York: Henry Holt and Co, 2007 Print.
In the early 1800s, poetry could land a person in jail. Those who tried to change the world through their poems risked notoriety, or courted it. Among the most subversive were a group of young writers known as the Romantics: Lord Byron, Percy Bysshe Shelley, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, William Wordsworth and John Keats. These rebels believed poetry should express strong feelings in ordinary language. And they were barely out of their teens when their words changed literature forever.

Bainbridge, Simon, ed. Romanticism: a Sourcebook. New York: Palgrave Macmillan, 2008. Print.
Provides a critical introduction to Romanticism, and features a collection of documents that provide contextual background for understanding the period and its literature.

Gunderson, Jessica. Romanticism. Mankato, MN: Creative Education, 2009 Print.
Discusses the elements of Romantic art, the influence of the political and social upheaval of the era, and how the artists gave art a does of passion and freedom that is still felt today.
